The Western Cape is the southernmost region of South Africa and indeed of the African continent with Cape Agulhas as its southernmost point, only 3800 km from the Antarctic coastline and 200 km from Cape Town, which is the province's principle harbour, built around Table Bay, and today the capitol of The Western Cape. The majestic flat topped Table Mountain is the crown jewel of The Western Cape tourism, but this should just be the starting point of discovering The Western Cape and not an end destination at all. The province is one of the most beautiful in South Africa and are topographically stunningly diverse. Most of the province are set around and between mountain ranges. The valleys between these ranges are very fertile and vineyards and farmland growing here set off a tapestry of colour and splendour that leaves one breathless. Furthermore there are lovely stretches of beaches and inland you will find the semi-desert Karoo - arid and hilly with a contrasting aura of desolation mixed with freedom. Two oceans meet on The Western Cape coast - the warm Indian ocean on the south-east side and the cold Atlantic ocean on the west.

The Western Cape is in total an area of 129 462 square kilometres (about the size of Greece). The people living in the bigger centra are a kaleidoscope of diverse cultures, coming from all over the world and making The Western Cape their new home and therefore the cities and bigger towns have a cosmopolitan flavour, while the rural towns have a calm, age old traditional feel about them.

Except for the beauty of the region, it is also well known for the excellent wine produced, outstanding culinary venues, great fishing spots on the west coast, safe beaches, ostrich products, the Cango caves, sheep plains found in-land, the indigenous forests with ancient tree giants, the Cape Floral Kingdom - meaning the fynbos and protea families - which has more plant species than in the whole of Europe and lastly Robben Island - where statesman Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison.

The Western Cape - once you arrive, you would never want to leave.
Everything you want for a holiday and more…. you will find here.
